pencil monster

The pens and pencils in my class seem to disappear with alarming regularity. Today I got the children to make pencil monsters, as something must be eating all the pens! Felt plushies, stitched and stuffed.

Makes an interesting alternative to boring old pencil cases.

recent doodles

Managed a few quick doodles in between writing reports. Blurry pic but am liking this style for its quickness at rendering a reasonably recognisable image. Wondering out loud if it might enlarge into paintings on chunky canvases -don't seem to have painted in ages come to think of it.

soccer sculptures

Had a go this afternoon at creating soccer sculptures from thin card. We looked at Giacommetti, Haring etc. to see simplified forms and then had a go at our own. These are my mock-ups to show the kids the idea.

England qualified for last 16 - yay! More nail-biting on Sunday.

'A is for Art' - 27 copies sold! Unfortunately unable to re-print, reports taking precedence, so apologies, my etsy shop looks a little sparse at the moment.

getting there

Reports coming together - wish I could say the same about the England footy team! Everything crossed for tomorrow.

Summer seems like it's finally arrived in our neck of the woods. Roll on the hols!!

oops!

A quick sketch - painful for the English supporters amongst us!

Really pulled out trying to fill the orders that continue to come in for 'A is for Art' - 20+ sold in the last week! A couple of copies left for anyone interested. Probably won't print up anymore for a few days as it's report writing season for us teachers.

spot the ball

On Friday the school is having a world cup disco to raise funds. Just sketched out a spot the ball pic, where children pay a few coppers to append their name in a circle to guess where the 'goal' was scored. The correct 'guess' then gets drawn out of a hat and a prize awarded (along the lines of guess the name of the teddy). Not original, but hopefully effective.

Update on 'A is for Art' - have just been reviewed on sweetsweetlife.typepad.com and have seen sales rocket! Thankyou Amy. Please check out her wonderful blog.
