dummy mock-ups

Been playing around with the box thingy idea that you might have seen previously on this blog. I must fathom out how to put those links to previous postings at the bottom, like everyone else seems to do. Am tentatively thinking of going with Q'oobs or possibly CUBEz ( the latter would fit in better with my overall 'branding' ! - please don't hurt yourself laughing) as a concept name. These two rough dummies came about because Y3 are studying the Ancient Greeks whilst Y1 are looking at 'water, water everywhere' as a theme - it's supposed to be a piranha!

 

 

I'm thinking of putting a little book together detailing how to make a variety of models all from the same very simple starting point. I would welcome any thoughts or ideas. I'm aiming to self-publish and sell through Etsy/Folksy as per my best-selling (!!) book - 'A is for Art' (please check it out in my shops on the right of this post).

A is for...Halloween

Have just listed in my Etsy shop an easy 'How to draw' guide to create Halloween images. It's an electronic/e-mailed listing 'cos of the time frame, what with it being Halloween in a few days!

In celebration of another sale of my unique, how to draw booklet - 'A is for Art' - a recent page of sketches from my pocket moleskine - A is for...pigeon!

life circles

In science we are currently 'doing' life cycles. In art therefore I showed the children how easy it was to create recognisable images from circles (life 'circles'). I demonstrated how they could use the same basic template to create pictures of a wide variety of animals - see my 'here's one I did earlier' pics for the polar bear, dog, lion and elephant. I also showed them that the lion could, by the judicious use of spots, stripes etc., become virtually any big cat.

Have put together a very rough dummy copy of my 4-way story book and have decided to send it off to agents/publishers to gauge the response - wish me luck.

a is for...witch

Another quick how-to draw. This time a witch.

Start from a letter A;

Add 'hair'

Then a pointy chin

Add a 'y'

Eyes and nose

Mouth

Teeth - the more crooked the better

Add a triangle at the top of the hat

And colour

You can add spots, warts etc. Don't worry if your witch looks at bit strange - witches are not renowned for their beauty!

a is for...bat

A quick how-to draw a simple bat from a letter A;

Add a couple of 'w' shapes

Add a couple of 'M's'

Join them together

Add a small circle for a head

A couple of ears

claws/feet

And colour it in! If anyone ridicules your bat- just tell them you've imagined an as yet undiscovered species that lives in a remote cave deep in the Amazon rainforest!

A is for Art - update

My 'how-to' booklet, 'A is for Art' is flying off the shelves - well, it's sold 2 copies so far, which to me is absolutely tremendous! Hopefully the purchasers will find it so marvellous that they can't wait to tell their friends, who in turn etc etc....we all have our dreams.

'zine 'published' !

Have managed to get my head round putting my debut 'zine together - it's done, yay!
It's a photocopied 'how-to' that details a very simple but fantabulously versitile system whereby folk can easily draw something that looks reasonably like what it's supposed to.
I'm just off to footy but will try and put images up later. Not sure what to charge - it's 14 pages (16 incl. card covers), printed in black & white - anyone got a ball park figure?

Here is a pic of the 4 copies I've made up so far (a very limited edition!) - not brilliant 'cos it's dark here now.

zine

Have all but given up on trying to interest a mainstream publisher in my fantastic, wonderful ideas so have decided to see if I can push them out there (where they deserve to be!) in the form of a 'zine. It's just that I haven't got the foggiest idea how or where to promote such a thing. Do zines sell on ebay or etsy? Is there a directory or listing I could try to get on? If anyone reading this can help, I would be very, very grateful. Many thanks.
