going round in circles

Tenuously, as part of their Ancient greek studies and with a nod to Pythagoras and Euclid, y3 created some designs and patterns using the 'old' compass-drawn method. 
 
 
 

They actually enjoyed the preciseness of the task and 'magical' way in which the patterns emerged. None of them had ever used pairs of compasses before!

Meanwhile y1 have been making bugs from lollipop sticks and card;

infestation

The clay ants have escaped from the classroom and are trying to find a way out of the building!
 

They've been blu-tacked onto the wall of the stairwell and have caused several folk to do a double take!

sunflowers & clay

In FS2 today we painted sunflowers. Using glue spreaders and thick paint we created an abundance of petals.
 

Love the thick textures on this one - very reminiscent of van Gogh!
 


We finger-printed the seeds.
 

 
And this is what we ended up with.
 

 In Y2 following on from the spider sketches we did last week we were again in mini-beast mode - creating insects from clay, matchsticks & pipecleaners.
