The y4's have been busy completing their papier mâché 'Aztec masks'.

And the y3's have finished painting their ceramic tiles.

doodle

As a follow-up to the ballerina automaton post from yesterday here's a quick doodle in a similar vein.

atop

Here are some pics of the figure that now adorns the box from a couple of days ago. As you can see she can be posed in a variety of ways. Her elastic joints keep the pose fixed as she pirouettes.

'bot

Heard an old Queen song last week and have had this doodle rattling around in my head ever since.

non-musical box

This week I cobbled together a simple mechanism for a nice wooden box I bought at a charity shop. The box originally held two packs of playing cards but I'm thinking it could just be for trinkets. I've made it so as the mechanism is fully housed in the hinged lid. Atop the box will be one of my world famous (!) poseable ballerina figures! So, as the handle is turned, she will pirouette to whatever tune you care to hum. If you would like the finished article (£20 including free world-wide p&p) please just comment. I'll leave it here for a week before I put it in one of my shops.

And started to paint our bisque-fired, semi-relief 'Victorian' tiles;

fire & flowers!

The y2's have begun to collage all the bits and pieces (printed buildings and painted flames) together for their 'Great Fire of London' pieces.

And here's a pic of one of the finished pieces that the members of the ceramics club made as Mothers Day gifts.

red nose art

We 'did' Red Nose Day today in school. Lots of activities & fundraising. We had a short art session this afternoon so we doodled using a 'red nose' as a starting point.

printing

Continuing with the theme 'The Great Fire of London', our y2's this week printed some 'Tudor' houses.
They used various wooden pieces dipped in black paint.

clay

As part of their topic about Victorians y3 recently looked at the work of William Morris. As he was also a collector of ceramic tiles we've begun to create our own - using natural, organic, animal designs. We're making them in semi-relief for added interest. Each child is aiming to make 4 identical tiles.

In ceramics club we glazed our flowers. Here they are, ready for the kiln.

vehicles

In y1 today we continued drawing vehicles but this time in '3D'. We took it step by step, using squared paper and simple shapes. We drew vans, trucks, buses and cars.

Not bad for 5/6 year olds.

Another painting - 'Derby'.

Possibly City vs Utd. Canvas board, 18 x 24cm, acrylics. £30 (p&p free worldwide) would see this adorning your wall! If interested please comment. Should you wish to commission a footy pic of your favourite team please let me know.

Another finished painting. This time a Scottish rugby player in full flight.

Canvas board, acrylics, 10 x 15cm.
£20 (p&p free worldwide!).
Please comment if you'd like it.

flames

The y2's did a bit of colour mixing today, as a precursor to creating collage pieces that represent the fire of London.

We varied the proportions of red and yellow to get darker and lighter oranges.

Meanwhile, here's one of my paintings from last week, all finished.

It's on canvas board, painted using acrylics and measures 18 x 24cm. If anyone is interested in buying it, £30 would secure (p&p free - anywhere in the world)! Please comment sold.
