sketches
We are fortunate in our school to have a music programme where every child has the opportunity to play an instrument. My class are currently playing cornets. Today in art we had a go at sketching them.

Wow, that sketch is wonderful! how brilliant every child gets to play an instrument! I think every school seems to flourish in certain subjects, our junior school seems to specialise in maths ( numeracy to lil, sky & Son! maths is so old according to Lil!!) IT and sports because of of the staff running the school. Music is very lacking and it seems to be kids with musical parents who pay for private lessons within school if the child shows talent. I think music, art & social skills should be just as important as maths and literacy at this lovely young sponge like age and I think it's fantastic that your school does this! ooo I sound to be on a right soap box!! Sonny wants to play the drums!...mmmm, I think I'll start him with drawing the drum kit, then maybe progress to the actual noise bit!!
Each KS2 class play a different instrument - ukeleles, clarinets, violins/cellos, guitars, cornets, recorders!
Why not start Sonny off with a small bongo type drum and see how he goes learning rhythms and beats.
