For some reason outlook is not letting me email photos to myself so that I can upload them (via my ipad) to this blog. It keeps saying I've exceeded my attachment limit when I know I've happily sent similar sized files before! I'll have to try and sort out an alternative way of doing things.
A shame, because there is a lot of great stuff being produced in school at the moment that I can't share.

Warhol & Tudors
Y6 have finished their self-portraits in the style of Andy Warhol.
And our Tudor real estate is nearing completion. Today we fixed the upper and lower storeys together and added the internal roof structures. Just the thatching to do. Hope it doesn't rain before next week!

tree
In y5 today we looked at the work of Piet Mondrian. We saw how his work progressed from being quite realistic to completely abstract. We concentrated on the images he drew of trees. We had a go, using charcoal, to draw trees in a style somewhere in the middle! We drew lines and smudged them to try and show form and a sense depth. The ruler (30cm) gives a sense of the scale we worked at.

recent
On a recent school trip to Hannover we stopped and admired sculptural works by Niki de Saint Phalle - such fantastic colours and exhuberant poses.
Meanwhile in school our y2 dinosaurs are nearing completion. It was a bit of a slog this morning but hopefully they will dry ok and we'll be putting in the pneumatic mechanisms, adding teeth, eyes etc. next week.

Trojan chair
Here we are frantically trying to complete projects before the end of the school year. We've lost lessons along the way and some things have invariably taken much longer than anticipated!
This is the completed Trojan Horse that will serve as the backdrop for our display of Greek Warrior sculptures.

It was once just a 3-legged chair.
