cityscapes

In y6 this week we completed our reflected cityscape collages. The children suggested we could try and make them 3D and add shipping! So we did. Arranged in a line, panoramically, they are going to look very effective.

almost back to work

Nearly back in the fray, Easter hols almost over. A staff day in school today - managed to plan the next terms work and put a couple of displays up. These are collage pieces, individually created by y6 for their river topic but displayed as 'panorama's'. We'd been looking at tonal perspective & reflections.

riverscapes

In y6 on Friday we combined the recent work we've been doing on perspective (tonal & linear) into landscape sketches and small, painted studies.

landscapes

As a follow up to our tonal perspective work last week, today we collaged some simple landscapes. We made them as symmetrical images and so were able to create the impression of reflections in a lake/river.

perspective

Today we painted some small studies of tonal (aerial) perspective. We started with a very pale grey mix and then just added more black for successively darker tones. We didn't use any water as it would have made the paint too thin. I love the texture of those hills in the last picture.
