portraits





Y5 this week had a go at drawing realistic portraits. Their initial 'before' sketches are in the top corner and the 'after instruction' larger. Looks like they listened - they were certainly impressed with the results.

Oh yes! It is good to see drawing being de-mystified; so many adults I meet think it is a black art, or something which one is naturally gifted with, and yet as this exercise shows, good teaching can work wonders.

It's also good for the less academically gifted to have a chance to shine - because it's not always the more able who are the most creative. What that says about us I don't know!
