Frantically trying to complete art pieces before the hols so we can start afresh in the new year.
These are some of the finished, grouted mosaics created by our y4's.

mosaics

Today y4 began making their mosaics. They are using a mix of tiles - small ones that can be shaped with scissors and larger, glazed ones that can't! 

Next week we'll grout them.

Today the y4's started looking at mechanisms. They created moving pictures by utilising a simple lever.

Today the y4's painted their clay relief sculptures of Roman legionaries.

We'll mount them on thick card when they're dry.

Romans and tigers

Y4 made some clay relief sculptures the other day. Using simple rolled slabs they created and assembled shaped pieces to represent Roman legionaries.

Today the y1's drew tigers. They had a go before following step by step instructions to draw several variations.

We then looked at Rousseau's 'Tiger in a Storm' before drawing our own large pictures of a tiger hiding in the long grass.

In Y6 we have created frontispieces for future Father's day cards, in the style of Paul klee.

 

 

Whilst in Y4 we completed our mosaics by grouting in between the tiles.

A damp sponge wiped off the excess. When dry, we'll give them a protective coat of PVA.

greek & roman

In Y4 we began to create our mosaics following on from last weeks designs. We are using small reconstituted tiles (as our tesserae) that can be cut (carefully) with scissors and glued into place with ordinary PVA glue. Once they are complete and dry we'll grout them.

 

In Y3 we have decorated our 'Ancient Greek' coil pots. We used sharpies so as to get a better and finer line. We might PVA threm to seal everything together, we might not!
